Access via a 1.5km footpath Difference in altitude +230m Duration approx. 40 mins From Pralognan-la-Vanoise, follow the signs for Les Prioux. Leave your car at the Pont de la Pêche car park and walk to the refuge in 40 minutes. The most pleasant path is on your left, via Montaimont. Walking shoes required.
Access by ski touring or snowshoeing over 8 km, with +500 m of ascent. Refuge du Roc is located in the high mountains: the vehicle must be left in Pralognan-la-Vanoise. As the road to Les Prioux and the Pont de la Pêche car park is snow-covered, access is by cross-country skis, snowshoes or ski touring only. Follow the Chavière valley as far as the Pont de Gerlon, then take the path groomed by the caretaker towards the Pont de la Pêche. Continue along the signposted track on the left towards Montaimont until you reach the refuge, where you can warm up after the climb.
It's worth noting that at an altitude of 1900 metres, the mountains can be full of surprises! In other words, weather conditions change rapidly. So if you're coming in winter, we strongly recommend that you contact us the day before your holiday to find out about snow conditions and the weather.
